OBITUARY

Martha C. Wright.

Martha C. Wright, daughter of Robert and Martha Vernon, was born in Warren county, Iowa, February 16, 1856, and passed away at the home of her son George Wright in Osceola, June 16, 1933. Mother Wright had reached the age of 77 years, 4 months.

When just about a year old she moved with her parents to Marion county, Iowa, where she made her home until she grew to womanhood.

She was united in marriage with, William B. Wright, Sept. 12, (unreadable). To this union were born twelve children, six sons and six daughters.

In (unreadable), she and her husband moved to Kansas and lived there until 1900, when they returned to Iowa, where she made her home until very suddenly the voice of the Lord called her.

Mother Wright confessed faith in Christ while living in Kansas and united with the United Brethren church of Florence, Kans. and has been a faithful follower of her Master until He called her to rest. She was born to parents who were of the Friends, or better known as the Quaker faith and was very strict and firm in her belief.

Those surviving Mother Wright are: six sons: Thomas E. and Perle both of Des Moines, Iowa; Forest of Osceola, Iowa; Claude of Cylinder, Iowa; Scott of Ceylon, Minn, and George of Osceola; five daughters: Mrs. Mary Ruble of Medora, Iowa; Mrs. Etta Pressley of Osceola, Iowa; Mrs. Alta Mitchell of Lucas, Iowa; Mrs. Gertie Snell of Osceola, Iowa, and Mrs. Elnora Willey of Creston, Iowa. There are seventy grand children and sixteen great grand children, one sister, Mrs. Rebecka Bland of Indianola, Iowa and other relatives and friends.

The husband and father, William B. Wright passed away about two years ago. The other daughter, Vica Mae passed away in infancy.

A quartet composed of Mrs. Beulah McComas, Miss Iva Marquis, Mr. Ernest Gray and Mr. Warren McComas, sang very beautifully, "The Land of Beulah," "We Are Going Down the Valley," and Sweetly Resting."

Paul-bearers were Virgil Pressley, Lester Pressley, Willard Coffman, Ivan Ruble, Harrison Snell, and Arthur Coffman, all grandsons of the deceased.

Funeral services was conducted from the Methodist Protestant church, Sunday afternoon, June 18, at two thirty o'clock, by Rev. R. Underwood, pastor. Burial in Fremont cemetery.
