OBITUARY

Mrs. John M. Murtle.

Susan Jane Richardson, daughter of William and Lucinda Richardson, was born December 4, 1854, near Warrensburg, in Johnson county, Missouri, and passed away November 18, 1931, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. F. M. Kelley, of near Osceola, Iowa, at the age of 76 years, 11 months and 16 days. About five weeks ago she was stricken with a paralytic stroke and was thereafter confined to her bed.

She moved from Missouri to Iowa with her parents when a young woman, and August 4, 1872, was married to John M. Murtle near Osceola, Iowa. To this union was born seven children, three boys and four girls, - Jessie and Bertha dying in infancy. Those left to mourn her death are Mrs. E. V. Kirby, Mrs. F. M. Kelley, Mrs. Ray O'Hair, Fred and George; also six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, two brothers, Charles of Mt. Etna, Iowa, and Mark of Red Oak, Iowa; also a niece, Mrs. Jess Scott of Libertyville, Illinois, who was a member of the family from childhood; a host of other relatives and friends. Her husband preceded her in death two years ago last June.

She was converted and joined church in 1886 and manifested the Christian faith until called by the death angel. At the time of her death she was a member of the M. P. church in Osceola, Iowa.

Mrs. Murtle was always a loving and devoted wife and mother and will be greatly missed from the family circle.

Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist Protestant church November 20th and the interment was in the Fremont cemetery, Rev. I. S. Caldwell officiating.
