Raymond Ellis Lovell was born February 19, 1900 in Woodburn, Iowa, the son of George and Elizabeth Cook Lovell.
At the age of 20 he joined the United States Army, serving with the Signal Corps during World War I. After his discharge in 1921, he lived in various towns in Wyoming working for the CB&Q Railroad.
On January 18, 1923, he married Nellie Loomis. To this union two children were born; James and Gene Lovell. In 1973 he moved to Des Moines, Iowa where he remained until of his death.
Survivors included one son, James W. Lovell of Torrington, Wyoming; three brothers, G. W. Lovell of Des Moines; Dean Lovell of Fresno, California and Kenneth Lovell of Jamestown, California; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one son.
