Winfield Wilson Loomis passed away December 11, 1969 at the Eventide Nursing Home of Sheridan, WY at the age of 89 years, 2 months and 6 days.

He was born October 5, 1880 near Prairie Grove, IA. He was the son of Wilson and Mary (Stephenson) Loomis, one of nine children. All brothers and sisters preceded him in death.

In 1904 he went to Wyoming and homesteaded on Prairie Dog. In 1908 he married Lora Ball. Twin children, Helen and George, were born to the couple in the spring of 1911. His wife and both children passed away in the year 1911.

He went back to Iowa following the death of his wife and children but came back to Sheridan, WY area and worked for the Kearney Ditch Co. for 30 years. He retired 5 years ago. He then made his home with his nephew, Wendell Loomis, and family near Big Horn, WY until nearly 2 years ago when his health caused him to go to Eventide. He was a member of the Elks Club.

Surviving are numerous nephews, nieces, and other distant relatives, along with a host of friends.

Funeral rites were Monday, Dec. 15, 1969 at 2 pm from Ferries Funeral Home, Sheridan, WY with the Elks Club in charge. Burial was in the Big Horn Cemetery.
