Kurtz Rites At Osceola Church

EAST PLEASANT PLAIN -- A number of relatives from the East Pleasant Plain Community attended funeral services at Osceola Friday for Clarence Kurtz, 72, former resident of Jefferson County.

Kurtz died Jan. 31 in the hospital at Osceola after being in poor health the past several years. The services Friday were held at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Osceola.

Clarence "Jenks" Kurtz was born Oct. 31, 1900, at East Pleasant Plain, the son of Walter and Mary Bureker Kurtz.

He was a former car salesman for the Zillman Motor Co. in Fairfield and a veteran of World War II.

His marriage to Gladys Reynolds took place Oct. 21, 1946, at Osceola where he had made his home since. His widow survives.

Other survivors include two brothers, Robert, East Pleasant Plain, and George, Brighton.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.
