Mildred Niswender, 77, Altoona
Mildred Elizabeth Niswender, 77, of Altoona, died of cancer Dec. 19, 1998 at home. Services were held Dec. 22 at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City, with burial in Chariton Cemetery.

Mrs. Niswender was born in Clarke County and had lived in Prairie City for several years before moving to Altoona 12 years ago. She was retired as a key punch operator for various companies.

Survivors include three daughters, Betty Keiler of Swan, Carroll Higgins of Runnells, and Mary Stookey of Colfax; a brother, Homer Stanley of Knoxville; a sister, Fern Majors of Oregon; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
