Raymond attended country school in Fairview and Franklin Township Schools until the sixth grade when he went to LeRoy School where he graduated high school. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged with the rank Corporal Specialist 3rd Class. June 8, 1958 at the LeRoy Presbyterian Church, Raymond was united in marriage to Shirley Maxine Moore. This union was blessed with three children, Gary, Jim and Penny.

Raymond and Shirley made their home on the farm near Weldon where Raymond farmed and raised cattle. Farming and being outside with the cattle was a great joy of Raymond’s. He was fun loving and enjoyed time with family. He was a little league baseball coach for the Weldon team when his boys were younger. He enjoyed camping with the family at the State Fair. After slowing down in farming, his “retirement” time was spent restoring antique John Deere tractors.

Raymond was a member of Davis-Pence Post #69 of the American Legion, Osceola Lodge #77 A.F. & A.M., Clarke County Cattlemen’s Association, Farm Bureau and the REC Board.

Those relatives who preceded Raymond in death were his parents; sister, Roberta Irene Surbaugh; brother Robert Byron Jamison; brothers-in-law, Emil Muller, John Surbaugh and John Shanks.

He leaves to cherish his memory, wife Shirley; son Gary Jamison % wife Katy of Osceola; son, Jim Jamison & wife Michelle of Weldon; daughter, Penny Sue Varisco & husband Jeff of Altoona; 12 grandchildren, Nikki Janelle, Christin, Jeff, Bryan, Brianna, Jared, Kennedy, Caleb, Jacob, Kira and Lilly; sister, Rilma Muller of Osceola; brother, Russ Jamison & wife Joan of Fairfax, VA as well as many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.”
