“Roberta Irene Jamison, daughter of Ashton and Neva Jamison, was born at Osceola, Iowa on April 20, 1929, and lost her life in a tractor accident at her home near Frederic, Wisc., on May 31, 1960 at the age of 31 years, 1 mo., and 11 days.

She received her grade education in the rural schools in Franklin Township near her home. She attended high school in Osceola where she prepared for the teaching profession. Following graduation she taught three years in Decatur and Wayne counties.

She accepted Christ and united with the Methodist Church at Hebron in childhood. She later transferred her membership to St. Luke’s Methodist Church at Frederic.

On May 28, 1949 she was united in marriage to John D. Surbaugh of near Humeston where they made their home until 1954 when they moved to Frederic. To this union were born four children, Randy Daryl, Gary Dean, Peggy Diane, and Kathy Denise.

She was active in church and community affairs. She was center chairman of the North Homemakers, active in P.T. A. and Women’s Society of Christian Service, and a teacher in the Sunday school.

She is survived by her husband, children, parents, three brother, Bob of Indianola, Russell of Washington, D. C., and Raymond of Weldon. Also one sister, Rilma.

Memorial services were held at St. Luke’s in Frederic on June 2. Final services were at Stewart’s Funeral home, Leon, Saturday, June 4, and interment made in High Point Cemetery in Decatur County.”
