Mildred Louise Watson

Mildred Louise Watson, the daughter of Emory Steele and Phebe Atkinson Steele, was born March 23, 1920, in Clarke County and died of complications of a stroke April 13. 2002, at the Clarke County Hospital in Osceola. She was 82.

She graduated from Osceola High School in 1937. She married Gerald Watson on April 1, 1939 and they became the parents of three children.

Mrs. Watson was a homemaker and lived her entire life in Clarke County. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Osceola. She enjoyed gardening and family activities.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Jean Ann Gross and son-in-law, George Gross.

Mrs. Watson is survived by her husband; a son Randy Watson and his wife, Nola Watson; a daughter, Becky Adkins and her husband Mike Adkins of Evansville, Ind.; four grandchildren, Danielle and Taylor Adkins of Evansville, Kim Mead and her husband, George Mead, of Lexington, Ky., Kevin Gross and his wife, Darah Gross, of Charlotte, N.C.; a brother, Wayne Steele of Corydon; a sister-in-law, Lena Watson of Pleasant Hill; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Watson were April 17 at Kale Funeral Home, the Rev. Phil Coe officiating. Organist Pennie Gonseth accompanied soloist Emil Rinderspacher as he sang The Old Rugged Cross and In the Garden.

Casket bearers were Myron Manley, Condon Clark, Ron Van Winkle, Billie Chase, Eldon Graves and Dennis Stearns. Honorary bearer was Robert Taylor. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery at Osceola.

Memorial contributions may be sent to First Christian Church in Osceola, Home Aide Services and or Green Valley Hospice.
