Not everyone had a marked grave so even though the Chickasaw County Genealogy Society has published the old cemeteries of Chickasaw County and the WPA index covers some cemeteries including Greenwood, not every person has a marked. The death index for the county began in 1880 but even all deaths were not recorded. Probate records may reveal death date if the family owned land. The 1885 census will tell indirectly by giving a legal description of land if owned by the family. Since Bradford is on the border of Bremer it is possible they were buried there or if James lived for a while with a child in some other county he may be elsewhere. Be sure to check wherever children esp. older ones were living 1880-1881. And lastly, newspapers started to have decent obits about 1880. The CCGS may be able to do a lookup in New Hampton or Nashua newspapers.
