My Ancestor Samuel Pates,came to the USA in 1873, I have a newspaper article from 1935 saying he was 84 and living in New Hampton,it also says that he lived at some time in Chicksaw County, it further states that he was a painter and refers to art work done in Chicksaw County, stating "his work may still be seen in many of our better homes and public buildings distinguishing him as a master painter" do you have any knowledge of him, I have a photo of him and of course the news article, that you can have for your archives, thankyou M. Murphy
