Marian R. Maulsby, age 85 of Nashua, Iowa died Friday January 16, 2009, in her home following an extended illness.

A memorial gathering will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2009 at the Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Nashua.

Interment will be at a later date.

Marian Ruth Demro was born February 8, 1923, in Nashua, Iowa the daughter of Paul and Ruth (Usher) Demro. She attended school in Nashua and was a 1940 Nashua High School graduate.

On August 6, 1944, in Des Moines, Marian married Ernest E. Maulsby Jr. She received her nurses training at Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines. Marian worked as a registered nurse in Las Vegas, NV, Charles City/ Nashua and San Mateo, CA.

Her hobbies include sewing, gardening, fishing and reading history and biographical books.

Survivors include her husband, Ernest E. Maulsby, JR of Nashua; a son, Duke (Paula) Maulsby of Anderson, CA; a daughter, Nancy Galios of Nashua; a sister, Pauline Shultz of Nashua; two brothers, Stuart Demro of Nashua and William Demro of Osage; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ronald; and her son-in-law, Stephen Galios.
