Obituary of George Johnson
George William Johnson was born to John and Lydia Johnson near Bassett August 28, 1857. On September 3, 1890 he was married to Rosa Wardell. To this union two children were born, Maud E. and Zella May.
He spent his entire life on the farm one-half mile west of Bassett with the exception of a few years he lived near Ionia. He passed away at New Hampton February 9, 1951. He had been a patient for three days in St. Joseph's Hospital. He died at the age of 83 years, 5 months and 12 days.
His wife, Rosa, daughter, Zella, five sisters and one brother preceded him in death.
He leaves to mourn his passing an aged brother, Ey; a daughter, Mrs. Maud Beard; two grand daughters and four great grand children besides other friends and relatives.
