Lola G. Krumm
Lola G. Krumm, 92, of New Hampton, died Thursday, May 6, 2010, at the New Hampton Care Center after a brief illness. Visitation will be Monday, May 10, at Hugeback and Chenoweth Funeral Home, New Hampton, from 4 to 7 p.m. and one hour before services at the church on Tuesday. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, New Hampton. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at Saint Johnís Lutheran Cemetery, Newhall.
Lola Rose was born June 25, 1917, the first child of William and Elfriede Werning Grovert, in Newhall. After graduating from high school at the age of 16, Lola attended Iowa State Teachers College (now UNI) and graduated from Coe College, with a B.A. degree in music. She taught music at school districts in Conrad, Coggon, Newhall, Reinbeck, Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock and Charles City. On June 27, 1942, Lola married Milton B. Krumm in Louisville, Ky. Milton served as principal at New Hampton High School before his death in 1978.
Lola was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton since 1956. She was one of the founders of the Carnegie Cultural Center in New Hampton. Lola had a great commitment to her church and community.
Lola is survived by her son, Michael (Melinda) Krumm, Kewaskum, Wisconsin; three grandchildren, Marcy, Andrew and Amy; and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brothers, Donald (Joan) Grovert, Newhall, and Dale (Dortha) Grovert, Winter Springs, Florida; nieces, Susan (William) Much, Newhall, and Patricia (Michael) Creech, Kemah, Texas; nephews, William (Susan) Grovert, Cedar Rapids, and Stuart Grovert, Alta Monte Springs, Florida; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Elfriede Grovert; and her husband, Milton Krumm.
