Wesley Wilbert “Wes” Gebert, 70, of Fredericksburg, Iowa, died Friday, March 12, at his home of complications of RA.

Services: are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, at the Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by the Becker-Chapman American Legion Post 138 and VFW Post 1623. Visitation is Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. and also after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

He was born October 2, 1939 in Leaf Lakes Township, Ottertail County, MN; the son of Elmer and Freida Leesburg Gebert. He married Lorraine I. Hesse on February 18, 1961 in Waterloo.

Wes worked at John Deere Co. for 29 years, retiring in 1989. He farmed in the Fredericksburg area for over 27 years. He served in the U.S. Army.

Survived by: his wife, Lorraine of Fredericksburg; three sons, Kenneth (Shelly) of Cedar Falls, Todd of New Hampton, Lee (Cathie) of Aurora, CO; one daughter, Sheryle (Steve) Deutsch of New Hampton; nine grandchildren, Kristopher of Des Moines, Reed and Hannah of Aurora, CO, Kristina of Bloomington, IN, Wesley of Waterloo, Ashley Deutsch of Ames, Cole Deutsch, Tori and Bryce Gebert all of New Hampton; two brothers, Leslie (Celia) of Sebeak, MN, Dale of Rogers, MN and two sisters, Arlene (James) Edwards of Aurora, CO and Mary Lou (Richard) Sather of Donna, TX.

Preceded in death by: his parents; one brother, Marlin and two nephews, Paul and Bobby Gebert

Memorials: may be directed to the Cedar Valley Hospice or the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation.
