Ann Helen Heit, 92, New Hampton, died Friday, February 2, 1995, at St. Joseph’s Community Hospital after a brief illness.

Funeral mass was 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 6 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Marvin Salz officiating. Music was furnished by St. Mary’s choir, accompanied by Ann Bennett as organist. Altar servers were Ryan and Patrick Murray; Eucharistic Minister was Wilfred Wanderscheid and lector was Dave Couser. Placing the pall were her children and gift bearers were grandchildren.

Active casket bearers were Ed Hillsman, Tim Nosbisch, Dale Schluetter, Francis Hentges, Dave and Dick Bonfig. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Ann was born September 27, 1902 at North Washington, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Zeien) Hilsman. She attended North Washington schools and on Sept. 10, 1934, she was united in marriage to Gallus Heit. They lived in Charles City for 30 years, moving to New Hampton in 1969. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church and the Catholic Daughters of America.

Survivors include a son, Don Heit, Westmont, IL; two daughters, Mary Beth, Mrs. Dave Couser, Harrisonville, MO and Wilma, Mrs. Jerry Aubry, Jacksonville Beach, FL; six grandchildren; two brothers, Edward, Waterloo, Vincent, Spring, TX; three sisters, Helen Bonfig, Ionia, Alice White, Alta Vista, Louise Hilsman, New Hampton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gallus in 1985; seven brothers, Irvin, Ray, Ralph, Frank, Art, John and Joe in infancy and a sister, Wilhemina.

Visitation was held on Sunday at Larkin-Martin Funeral Home with a Rosary Society rosary at 4 p.m., Catholic Daughters rosary at 7 p.m., parish scripture at 7:30 p.m. and Knights of Columbus rosary at 8 p.m.
