Tom Holschlag, age 66 of New Hampton, Iowa died Wednesday September 2, 2009, at his home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday September 5, 2009, at Holy Family Parish - St. Joseph Center in New Hampton with Msgr. Carl Schmitt officiating. The pall will be placed by Tom's family. The Lau Family along with The Holy Family Resurrection Choir will provide the music for the service. Becky Schoenfeld and Geri Brummond will be lectors. Presenting the offertory gifts will be Bob and Geri Brummond Clausen. Eucharistic ministers will be Richard and Rose Holschlag and Marge Quirk.

Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, New Hampton with military interment rites by the American Legion and VFW. Randy Brummond, Dick Brummond, Dan Brummond, Jack Roethler, Rich Schoenfeld and Les Kellogg will be pallbearers.

Visitation will be 3 - 8 p.m. Friday at the Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in New Hampton where there will be a 6:30 p.m. Scripture Service.

Tom was born April 14, 1943, in New Hampton, Iowa the son of Carl Bernard and Maurine Beth (Johnson) Holschlag. He attended St. Joseph Catholic School in New Hampton and was a 1961 graduate of New Hampton High School.

In April of 1964, Tom joined the United States Air Force. He did his basic training in Texas at the Lackland Air Force Base and served overseas in Turkey and Vietnam. He trained in teletype maintenance and was granted a high security clearance.

Tom was married to Carolee Carolan in August of 1971 and to this union three sons were born, Brad, Craig and Ryan. The couple later divorced. He was united in marriage to Paula Ritnour of Waterloo on June 18, 1988, in New Hampton.

Tom was a lifelong resident of New Hampton and was self employed in the Redimix business until 1994. He then began working at Croell Redi Mix, until the time of his death.

Tom enjoyed fishing, reading, snow skiing, and spending quiet time at the river. He loved the time spent with family and friends the most.

Survivors include his wife of 21 years Paula; two sons, Craig (Jodi) Holschlag of Rochester, MN and Brad Holschlag of Apache Jet, AZ; one step-son, Miles Ritnour of New Hampton; three grandchildren, Ryan Cuellar, Blake and Bradon Holschlag; one brother, Tim (Lyn) Holschlag of Minneapolis; one sister, Geraldine (Robert) Brummond Clasen of New Hampton; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Ryan on July 30, 1988.
