Coral Leona Johnson, age 91, longtime Chickasaw and Howard County, Iowa, resident currently residing in Litchfield, Minnesota passed away at Birchwood Hospice House, in Hutchinson, Minnesota surrounded by her family on August 31, 2009

Funeral services for Coral will be conducted at 11 AM on Thursday September 3rd at Jerico Lutheran Church, New Hampton, Iowa, with Pastor Daniel Larson officiating. Nadine Schumacher will be the organist leading the congregation singing, "Just As I Am", "Amazing Grace" and "I'm but a Stranger Here".

Burial will be following the service at the Jerico Church Cemetery with Michael Johnson, Richard A. Johnson, Ronald Johnson, Eric Kellogg, Brian Rysavy and Chris Auwarter as casketbearers.

Visitation will be on Wednesday September 2, from 4 - 7 pm at Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home, New Hampton, IA.

Coral was born in Crawford County, Wisconsin on May 4, 1918, the daughter of Lars and Anna Paulson. She attended school in Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin until the age of 13 when, with her family, she moved to Iowa where she attended rural schools. She was baptized into the Evangelical Lutheran faith in Wisconsin and confirmed at Jerico Lutheran Church by Reverend H. M. Tjernagel.

On December 9, 1936, she was united in marriage to Allert J. Johnson. To this union three sons were born. She and her husband farmed in Howard and Chickasaw Counties. Following the death of her husband she moved to Litchfield, Minnesota to be near her sons. She was a “Foster Grandmother” for several years at Ripley Elementary School, Litchfield, MN. She was a lifelong member of Jerico Lutheran Church, New Hampton, Iowa and attended St Paul’s Lutheran Church, while living in Litchfield.

Coral is survived by her sons, Jerome and Carol Johnson of Eagle Lake, MN; Gayle and Raylene Johnson, Bells, TX and David and Corey Johnson, Litchfield, MN; six grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Alvin (Bud) and Vera Paulson of Elma, IA and Harold and Marge Paulson of San Leandro, CA; two sisters, Lucille Karns of Evansdale, IA and Lu Ann and Don Lipp of Mason City, IA, and many other special friends and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Allert; brother, Orvin Paulson; sister, Eileen Reichwald and grandson Richard Johnson.
