Alice Arlene Arens, age 44 of Fredericksburg, Iowa died Saturday August 8, 2009, at her home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2009, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Lawler with Rev. David Beckman celebrating the Mass. The pall will be placed on the casket by her brothers and sisters. Louie Arens will be the lector and the offertory gifts will be presented by Emily and Samantha Arens. Kevin Hall is the organist with Ryon & Amy Kilcher along with Bobbie Hoey as vocalists.

Interment will be in the church cemetery with Nick Hall, Sean Stagg, Tony Hall, Lucas Wick, Logan Wick, Joshua Arens, Tyler Erdahl and Jacob Erdahl serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are April Hamdorf, Maria Hall, Emily Arens, Samantha Arens, Cathy King and Kim Busta.

Friends may call 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Fredericksburg where there will be a 7:00 p.m. Scripture Service. Visitation continues an hour prior to the Mass at church on Wednesday.

Alice Arlene Arens was born April 18, 1965, in New Hampton, Iowa, the daughter of Eugene J. “Louie” and Marjorie A. (Elenz) Arens. She received her education in the Turkey Valley Schools graduating with the Class of 1983. Alice then attended NICC in a secretarial program for two years. Alice worked for 12 years at the former State Bank of Lawler then for Durnan Trucking of New Hampton and most recently for the Fredericksburg Food Center.

In her free time, Alice enjoyed reading, gardening, movies, time with children of all ages and her animals, especially her dog, Dolly. She will be fondly remembered by her family and friends for her quick wit and sense of humor.

Survivors include her life partner, Bill Kilcher of Fredericksburg and his children, Ryon (Amy) Kilcher of Fredericksburg, Bobbie (Keith) Hoey of Lawler; her mother, Marjorie Arens of Lawler; two brothers, Joe Arens of Fredericksburg and Louis (Kristi) Arens of Lawler; four sisters, Sandy (Bill) Hall of Medford, WI, Susie (Mark) Stagg of Cottage Grove, MN, Jeannie (Jeff) Wick of Elgin, MN and Amy Arens of Hayfield, MN; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father on December 15, 2002; a sister-in-law, Diane Arens and her grandparents.
