Margaret Pauline Wendt, age 81 of Fredericksburg, Iowa, died Monday August 3, 2009, at her home.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 6, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church, New Hampton with Pastor Kevin Frey officiating. Organist for the service will be Dennis Strum with the congregation singing "The Old Rugged Cross”, "On Eagles Wings" and “How Great Thou Art“.

Inurnment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg, with urn bearers being her grandsons, Cory Wenthold, Aaron Wenthold and Jason Wenthold.

Friends may call 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in New Hampton. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Margaret was born June 13, 1928, on the family farm near Fredericksburg, Iowa the daughter of Walter and Zelpha (Fry) Karnatz. Margaret taught country school for a few years and on May 21, 1950, at St. John Lutheran Church in Frederika she married Harley William Wendt. To this union three children were born.

The couple farmed on several farms in the Fredericksburg area. Margaret retired after working for many years at Beatrice in Fredericksburg. Margaret and Harley loved the opportunity to spent 13 winters in Texas.

Margaret enjoyed talking with friends and family, sewing, gardening and mowing her lawn.

Survivors include one son, Ray (Cheryle) Wendt of Aurora, CO; one daughter, Marsha (David) Wenthold of Waucoma, IA; three grandsons, Cory Wenthold, Aaron Wenthold and Jason Wenthold; three step grandchildren, Melissa, Danielle and Jason; two step great-grandchildren, Trey and Tylora; one brother, Ron (Lynn) Karnatz of Norwalk, IA; two sisters, Shirley (Don) Blazek of Lawler, IA and Charlotte (Ross) Braland of Burnsville, MN; a sister-in-law, Betty Wendt of New Hampton; a brother-in-law, LaVerne Wendt of New Hampton; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harley on December 10, 2008; and a daughter, Ranae Wendt.
