Mrs. Robert Elliott

Mrs. Robert Elliott, one of the good mothers of this community, passed away at her home in Greenwood on Monday morning, March 5, 1919, after an illness of considerable duration.

Deceased was born in Hutton Bushel, Yorkshire, England, December 13, 1857. She was united in marriage to Robert Elliott of Ebberston, England, March 7, 1874, and they set sail for America August 15, 1892, settling in Illinois for a period of about 14 years, then moving to Bremer County in 1908 and later moving to the present home.

Fifteen children were born to this union, of whom nine survive the mother. There are also 19 grandchildren, all living in the surrounding country. The children are: William Elliott, Alta Vista; James Elliott, Nashua; Mrs. L.H.Mann, Washing D.C.; Leonard B. Elliott, Chicago, Ill.; Thomas Elliott, Nashua; Robert Elliott, Jr., and Frederick Elliott, both with the A.E.F. in France; Mrs. H.G.Parson, Nashua; and Ruth, at home, all of whom excepting the two sons in France, were present at the funeral.

There was also present at the service Mr. John Blades and wife, brother of the deceased, from Chicago, a sister Mrs. Anna Lightfoot, of Gary, S.D., and a niece, Mrs. Anna Emmert, of Superior, Wis.

Her life was devoted to her children and to her home life and it is from the family circle that she will be most sadly missed. She was a good wife and a kind and loving mother.

Funderal services were held at the Little Brown Church Monday at 1:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. H.D. Green and interment was in Greenwood.
