Louis F. Kammeyer Dies at 85

The Boyd Lutheran Church was packed far beyond its capacity Monday afternoon, when final rites were held for Louis F Kammeyer. The sturdy pioneer died early Friday at the home of his daughter, Mrs Alton Snider, at the age of 85, after a long illness.

Professor August Baetke of Wartburg College, Waverly, officiated at the funeral. Mrs Jerry Gitch was soloist and Mrs Galen Dunneman was organist.

Mrs. R.T. Mikes and Mrs Ricka Gitch were in charge of the flowers.

Casket bearers were nephews, being Dean Curtis, Harold Weitenhagen, Karl Kammeyer, Hilmer (Bill) Blaschke, Ed Dedor and Louis Gitch.

Burial was in the Boyd cemetery, Chenoweth's were in charge of arrangements.

Louis F. Kammeyer was born at Prouisow, Illinois, on June 28, 1875; the family later moving to this vicinity. On February 9, 1899, he married Miss Wilhelmina Karnatz. To this union three children were born. A daughter and a son died in infancy and the surviving child is Mrs. Alton (Hilda) Snider.

Other survivors are his wife; two brothers, Henry of Fredericksburg and Fred of Waterloo. Also three sisters, Mrs Frank Weitenhagen, Fredericksburg; Mrs Ed Pantke, Western Springs, Ill; Mrs Ted Kolzow, Hillsdales, Illinois; There are two grandchildren, Rollis Snider, Waterloo; and Mrs Virginia Baltes, New Hampton; and six great-grandchildren. These are Vickie, Linda and Lee Snider and Julie, Tim and Barbara Baltes.

Mr Kammeyer was a member of the Boyd Lutheran Church. He had lived in Fredericksburg after retiring from the farm some years ago.
