Dies at His Home in Fredericksburg, Tuesday, Sep 5

Fredericksburg News: Died, at his home in this city, Tuesday evening, September 5, 1916. Mr. Frederick Kammeyer, at the age of nearly 74 years. Cause of death was apoplexy.

The death of Mr Kammeyer came as a shock to his numerous friends in this locality. Saturday afternoon of last week he came down town and was in his usual health. While in the First National Bank of Fredericksburg, he was stricken. He went from the bank into WH Mohling's store and from there he was taken to his home by his son-in-law, Mr Frank Weitenhagen. A doctor was called and everything was done that could be to relieve his condition, but without avail.

Frederick Henry William Kammeyer was born in Hanover, Germany, September 2, 1842, where he grew to young manhood. He was married for the first time in Germany. One child was born to this union, a daughter, Mrs Bertha Moeller, who resides in Chicago. His first wife died in Germany. After her death, Mr Kammeyer emigrated to America and settled in Cook county, Illinois.

Mr Kammeyer married for his second wife, Miss Dorothy Weidler of Cook county, Illinois. To this union nine children were born, as follows: Louis, of Dresden township; William of Boyd; Herman of Hinsdale, Ill; Henry of Dresden township; Fred, at home; Mrs Frank Weitenhagen of Fredericksburg; Mrs August Gitch of Fredericksburg township; and the Misses Alma and Edna Kammeyer who live at home.

Mr and Mrs Kammeyer came to Iowa and settled in Dresden township about thirty years ago, where they made their home until three years ago, when they gave up farm life and moved to Fredericksburg.

In addition to the widow and children, he leaves to mourn his death two brothers, Mr Herman Kammeyer of Fredericksburg and Mr Detrick Kammeyer of New Hampton, also other relatives and numerous friends.

Mr Kammeyer was a man who was liked by all who knew him. While he was of a reserved disposition yet when he made a friend he invariably retained that friendship. He was ever ready to assist his neighbors in whatever way he could and he will be missed by a large circle of friends.

Deceased was a member of St John's Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg and ever lived a consistent Christian life.

The funeral was held from St John's church Friday afternoon, September 8, at 2:00pm. Rev. Deubert, the pastor, conducting the service. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.
