Mrs Campbell Dies At Nursing Home

Mrs Elmer Campbell, 65, of New Hampton, died at the de Buhr Nursing Home in Charles City on Wednesday, December 23 at 6 pm. Mrs Campbell had been bedridden for one and a half years. Death was due to complications of diabetes.

Mary Elizabeth Roehrich, the daughter of Frederick and Ida Bouska Roehrich, was born April 7, 1899 in Chickasaw county. She lived in New Hampton and attended grade school here.

She was united in marriage to Elmer Campbell, on June 22, 1918 at the Lutheran church in New Hampton. They became the parents of five children. The Campbells had lived in New Hampton all their married life, except for 10 years when they lived in Oelwein.

Mrs Campbell was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton.

Survivors are her husband, three daughters, Mrs Edward (Viola) Katz, Mrs Helen Knutson and Mrs Bryan (Gloria) Houser all of New Hampton; one son, James Campbell of Waterloo, two sisters, Mrs Herman Stolfes of Oelwein and Mrs William Dowd of New Hampton; seven brothers, Albert, Fred, and Otto Roehrich of Oelwein, Julius and Alfred Roehrich of New Hampton, William Roehrich of Fort Dodge, 21 grand children and nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Ellsworth Lee, who was killed during World War II in 1944, two sisters in infancy and a brother, Paul Roehrich.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 10:30 am at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. John Rohde, pastor, officiating.

Mrs Clayton Garner was organist and accompanied Mrs A K Leichtman as she sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Rock of Ages"

Interment was in the New Hampton cemetery with Harry Lynch, Ed Linkenmeyer, Stan Pierce, Paul Hartson, Maurice Condon and Wiard Janssen as casket bearers.

The Larkin-Martin Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
