Obituary of Henry Ernwine

John Henry Ernine was born September 7, 1857, on the Ernwine homestead near Nashua, and all the years of his life this place was his home until he was called to his eternal home in the great beyond on Wednesday, February 25, 1914.

On September 9, 1896, he was united in marriage to Miss Mina Cagley, who with their three children, Amy, Forrest and Charley, survive him. Two sisters, Mrs. Geo. W. Smith and Mrs. John Hamilton, are also left to mourn his untimely death. His parents, three brothers and one sister have preceded him to the better land.

Deceased was one of the noble hearted men of the community and loved and respected by all who knew him. In his family he was all that the names husband and father imply and to the wife and children comes the greatest loss by his taking away. He was never too busy to stop his own work and do a favor or a kindness for a neighbor or friend, and his death is sincerely mourned by all who knew him. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias and of the Modern Woodmen of America and his brothers in these orders knew full well his true worth as a brother and a man.

The funeral services were held from the home Friday at 1:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. B. W. Burleigh, and a large concourse of neighbors and friends gathered to pay their last respects to the one they loved. The burial service at the grave in Greenwood cemetery was under the charge of the Knights of Pythias.
