PIONEER CITIZEN SUMMONED

John Hamilton Called By Death Last Thursday - Was Resident of This County for Many Years.

John Hamilton, a long time and highly respected resident of Bradford township, passed away at his home southeast of Nashua last Thursday, after a lingering illness of many months.

Deceased was born at Mineral Point, Wisconsin, November 29, 1849, and died at his home in Bradford township on April 6, 1922, at the age of 72 years, 4 months and 25 days.

He came to Chickasaw county Iowa, when but a young man, and on September 19, 1880, he was married to Mary J. Ernwine and they located on the farm which has been their home continuously since that time.

To this union were born three children, Grace and Charlie, both at home, and Mrs. Lena Chadwick, who preceded her father in death but a few years ago.

Besides his faithful wife and the two children, he leaves to mourn a granddaughter, Ethel Chadwick, who since the death of her mother has lived with her grandparents, and one sister, Mrs. John Clay, of Pierson Iowa, and one nephew, Walt Dalzell of North Dakota, besides numerous friends who will miss a true fiend and a kind neighbor.

Funeral services were held at the home on Saturday, April 8, at 1 p.m., Rev. Edward lee, of the congregational church, officiating and interment was in Greenwood cemetery.
