MRS. MARY J. HAMILTON SUMMONED BY DEATH

Deceased Had Lived in This Community Seventy-Three Years - Funeral Held Monday

Mrs. Mary Hamilton, a lifelong resident of this community, passed away Saturday, September 21, 1929, at her home southeast of Nashua.

Mary J. Ernwine was born at Fort Snelling, where Minneapolis now stands, September 27, 1849. She was christened in the Lutheran faith and has lived a truthful and noble life. A woman loved by everyone who knew her. She passed away peacefully Saturday, about 1:30 at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 25 days.

Mrs. Hamilton had been ill for many years and for the past few months her condition had been much worse, and three weeks ago she was taken to her bed.

Mary, the eldest of eight children, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Ernwine. When three years of age she came with her parents to Bradford township and settled on a farm two miles east of Nashua. On this homestead she grew to womanhood. September 19, 1880, she was married to John Hamilton. For the past forty-two years she lived on a farm seven miles southeast of Nashua. She was the mother of three children, namely, Lena E. Chadwick who preceded her mother in death eleven years ago, Charles B. and Grace M., who are at home. Her husband died April 6, 1922. All her brothers and sisters, except one sister, are waiting on the other shore to greet her. This one sister, Mrs. Ellen Smith, who lives in Nashua, has been with Mrs. Hamilton during her last illness.

She leaves to mourn, besides the son and daughter and sister, one granddaughter, Ethel Chadwick, of whom she has taken much interest in caring for; besides many nieces and nephews, and a wide circle of neighbors and friends, who will miss her loving kindness.

Funeral services were held at the home on Monday at 2 p.m., Rev. Wm. Kent, of the Congregational Church, officiating. She was tenderly laid to rest by the side of her husband in Greenwood Cemetery.

"Dear mother, you have left us,
Gone to the land of Rest.
It was hard to have to leave us,
But God knows best."
