Clarence J. Peters

Clarence John Peters, 79, of New Hampton died Wednesday, March 18, at his home from a heart attack. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 21, at 11 a.m. at the Saint Joseph Church in New Hampton with Fr. Erwin Matt officiating. Interment was at St. Mary's cemetery in New Hampton with Leon Wegner, Sly Wegner, Leonard Rosonke, Virgil Peters, Francis Peters and Frank Kraft as pallbearers. The Larkin Martin Funeral Home in New Hampton was in charge of arrangements.

A Rosary Society rosary was held at 4 p.m. Friday, March 20, with Parish Scriptures at 8 p.m. Friday at Larkin Martin. A wake was held at 3 p.m.

Peters was born Dec. 22, 1901, the son of Nickolas and Anna (Holschlag) Peters in New Hampton. He attended St. Mary's School in New Hampton and was a lifetime resident of the city. He worked at Olivers-White Farm for 26 years. In June of 1931 he married Margaret Angela Ball in Dubuque and the couple lived in New Hampton. He was a member of the St. Joseph Parish.

Peters is survived by one daughter, Rose Budweg of New Hampton, four sons, Robert of Italy, Maury of California, Vern of West Germany, and Larry of Cedar Falls, 10 grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Cordilla Carll of Illinois and three brothers, Henry and Fred of New Hampton and Lawrence of Waterloo.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Elmer and Raymond.
