W. W. Thompson Passes Away.
The death of Wm. W. Thompson, an aged and respected citizen of Nashua, occurred at his home at 6 o’clock Monday evening after a prolonged illness. Mr. Thompson had been near unto death for several weeks, so when the summons came it was not unexpected. His age at the time of death was 78 years and 15 days.
William Wilson Thompson was born in Harrison county, Va., March 18, 1833. At the age of 3 years his mother died. The remainder of the family then moved to Crawford county, Ill. From there he moved to Green county, Wis., then came to Chickasaw county, in January, 1854, where he resided up to the time of his death. He was{missing}
Deceased was one of the first settlers of this county, there being but few buildings in Nashua at that time. To his family he was a kind and devoted husband and father. He was also a true friend and obliging neighbor and his death causes sincere regret among his old associates, who have known him intimately during the long years of his residence here.
The funeral was held from the home at 1 o’clock Wednesday, Rev. Eckerson officiating, and the remains were interred in Greenwood cemetery.Source Unknown – probably local newspaper
