LEONA HINMON-BENNOR
Leona Mae Hinmon was born at Plainfield, Iowa, February 27, 1908, the daughter of Porter S. and Minnie Hinmon. She moved with her parents to the vicinity of Ionia when two years old. She attended school at Chickasaw, graduating from the eighth grade. She then attended Nashua high school for four years, graduating with the class of 1926.
Leona was married to Dale Bennor of Republic on December 7, 1927. One son, Ellis Dale was born Feb. 22, 1931.
She has lived all her life in this vicinity. While the last few years, Leona has been in poor health, her whole thought has been for her home and loved ones. Never did she miss an opportunity to do something for others. She was patient in her suffering and tried to make her going easier for her husband and family.
She leaves besides her husband and little son, her parents, one sister, Helen, her grandmother, Mrs. Mary E. Boice, and many loving relatives and friends. A little sister died in infancy.
At an early age she gave her heart to her Saviour and has always had a serene faith in God and a comforting assurance of life beyond the grave.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon, June 6, at the Republic church where she and her husband had so often attended services, Rev. R. E. Hodgkin of the Methodist church of Nashua officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Lew Moine, Mrs. T. Walton and Earl Elson sang “Abide With Me,” “Does Jesus Care”, “Face to Face.” The pall-bearers, were Max Wayne, Harvey Eckenrod, Alfred Dickman, Jim Caswell and Clark Lathrop.
The relatives from out of town attending the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Dan McGovern and daughter Luella, of Faribault, Minn., Elizabeth Ogan, Mrs. Bob Smith and son, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hinmon, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bruck, Mr. and Mrs. Walt Sutherland and daughter, and Mrs. Clarence Harley, all of Waterloo; Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Hinmon, Mrs. Cora Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Alva Baker, Mr. and Mrs. Harry McKenzie, Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Annis, all of Waverly; Mr. and Mrs. George Hinmon of Charles City and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Hinmon of Plainfield.

She resteth now. No more her breast.
Heaves with its weary breath.
Pain sits no longer on the brow
Where lies the clam of death.
Sunk to her rest like tired child
She lies in slumber deep.
Soft folded in the arms of Him
Who giveth His beloved sleep.
Nay, doth she rest? No day or night
She restest not from praise
Her spirit, winged with rapture knows
No more earth’s weary ways.
But ever toward the infinite
Her flight on, upward does she keep
For He gives active tirelessness
Who giveth His beloved sleep.
