DAN ENDRES DIES AT HOSPITAL IN SOUTH DAKOTA

Well Known Farmer Succumbs to Illness of Several Months—Funeral Service Monday.
Dan Endres, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Endres, was born Aug. 14, 1885, in Slinger, Washington county, Wis., and passed away at the M. E. hospital in Rapid City, S. D. on March 13, 1930, at the age of 44 years. He was baptized March 19, 1886 and confirmed on Feb. 20, 1900 in the St John’s Evangelical church at Ackerville, Wis.
On June 3, 1908, he was united in marriage of Miss Ella Guerndt, and to this union were born twin daughters, Ruby and Pearl, and one son Harry.
Mr. Endres had been in poor health for twenty years and was a conscientious christian and attended church as long as his health permitted. Few have realized the burden he has had to bear. Realizing that he must have medical aid, on Jan. 27, 1930, he left for Rapid City, S. D., where his daughter Ruby is taking training at the M. E. hospital. Here he submitted to a very serious operation from which he seemed to rally and continue to improve for about ten days when a change for the worse came and on Feb. 21 his wife was called to his bedside. All that medical aid and loving hands could do was done, but he gradually grew worse until the end came.
Mr. Endres had been a resident of this community for the past seven years. Here he had made many friends. He was a kind and loving father, respected by all his neighbors, who together with the following will mourn his early passing. His wife, his daughters, Ruby of Rapid City, and Mrs. R. E. Despard of Nashua and son Harry, teaching school near home. His aged father, his brothers Fred, John, Arthur and Elroe of Slinger, Wis., Andrew Endres Jr., of Hartford, Wis., and sisters, Mrs. Anna Held and Mary Tubes, all of Slinger, Wis., and sisters Louisa Guerndt of Avon Park, Fla., and Mrs. Katherine Ritzner of Rock Island, Ill. His mother and two sisters, Margaret Endres and Mrs. Emma Frey have gone before.

Otto Usher, and
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark,
May there be no sadness of farewell
When I embark
For tho’ from out our bourne of time and place,
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face,
When I have crossed the bar.

Funeral services were held Monday at the Little Brown Church, Rev. Wm. Kent officiating, and the remains were laid to rest in Greenwood cemetery.
