John Cairns, 82, Lived Here Many Years Before Going to Appleton, Minn., 30 Years Ago.

John Cairns, 82, former resident of this community, died at the hospital in Appleton, Minn., Friday of last week, according to word received by his niece, Miss Claudia Smith.
Mr. Cairns and his wife had both been taken to the hospital about a week before his death for treatment for flu and complications. They made their home on their farm near Appleton, with their son, Howard.
Surviving besides the widow and son Howard, is another son, Clifford Cairnes of Portland, Ore. Eight grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held at the Congregational church in Appleton Sunday.
The Cairns family lived for many years on the farm east of Nashua, now owned and operated by Willis and Clark Good. They moved from here to Appleton about 30 years ago.
Mrs. Cairns, who is still quite ill, is the former Nettie Tillinghast, a sister of the late Mrs. Eva Smith.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born Oct. 25, 1860 and died June 4, 1943. He is buried in the Appleton Cemetery in Appleton, MN.
