Attempted Murder and Suicide.
New Hampton, Iowa, Feb. 10.—A double tragedy occurred here last evening, Wm. Chrystoss visited a young lady named Boos, and urged her to agree to marry him. She persistently refused and finally Chrystoss drew a revolver and shot her twice threw the body, indicting serious wounds. The man then stepped outside the house and placed the revolver at his own head and put a ball through it, dying almost instantly. The young woman is still alive, but her condition is very serious and there are grave doubts about her recovery. Rumor has it Miss Boos’s father objected to the young man as a suitor for his daughter, and her refusal to agree to marry him was based on her father's opposition.
P. S.—Miss Boos died on the morning of the 13th, and Chrystoos did not die, but is getting well. A corner's jury sitting in the case ordered the arrest of Chrytoos on a charge of murder, and he is now in jail.Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows this was Minnie who was born January 12, 1874 and is buried in the New Hampton Cemetery. It also shows an article that details the above murder but it shows the name of the man who killed her was William Christoph.
