Daisy Zipse, 17 years old lies dead by her own hand at her home one mile south of Lawler, and Charles Gertji 19 years old, a farm hand on her father's place, and whose name is mentioned in connection with the young woman's trouble, is in jail at his own request, having asked for protection from the authorities.
The story as we get it is that the girl had hot words with one of her parents Monday evening June 16th, about 6 o'clock. She went upstairs and a little later her father started up to see her. She came out of a room and at the top of the stairs took carbolic acid in the presence of her father. He carried her down stairs and out on the porch and she died a little later.
The funeral will be held at Waucoma to-day, services being conducted by Rev. Summers.—New Hampton Gazette.
