Horrible Accident at New Hampton.
Gazette:—A very sad accident occurred at the home of D. W. Schnurr last Friday morning which resulted in the death of Mrs. D. W. Schnurr Friday evening. Mrs. Schnurr had risen early to care for her two months' old baby and in her haste to heat the room used kerosene to start the fire. For some reason the fire did not burn and she determined to add more kerosene but mistook the gasolene can for the one she just used and poured some of the contents on the smouldering fuel. Instantly there was an explosion and Mrs. Schnurr's clothing caught fire. Her husband ran to assist her in smothering the flames but in her frenzy she broke away and ran out into the air. Before she was finally overpowered almost two-thirds of her body had been terribly burned and charred. Dr. Schilling was summoned and the patient was immediately put under the influence of opiates to allay the pain. Owing to this precaution the unfortunate woman did not seem to suffer very much pain and she died peacefully at 9 o’clock in the evening.
