New Hampton Tribune:—Joseph Kutish of North Washington, met a horrible death yesterday afternoon between 4 and 6 o'clock, on the old Stapler homestead northwest of town. The young man was engaged in operating a threshing outfit and it was while moving the outfit to the Stapler farm that the accident occurred, in turning the engine and its load into the gate it was found necessary to make another coupling, the ground was wet and slippery, and as the engine reversed to get into the new position to make the coupling the engine slipped and before he could get out of the way he was caught and horribly crushed between the separator and the engine. Medical assistance was immediately summoned from New Hampton. Drs. I. K. Gardner and O. M. Landon hurried to the scene, of the accident but could render no help, death ensuing within twenty minutes after their arrival.
Deceased was a fine young man. He leaves a wife and two small children. The terrible calamity has cast a gloom of sadness over the entire community in which he lived and was well known.
