Obituary.

Mrs. Margaret Nulty, wife of Thos. Nulty, died at her home two miles south of Lawler, on Wednesday, Nov. 8th, aged 43 years, 1 month and 4 days.

Margaret Tooley was born in Hampden, Columbia Co., Wisconsin, Oct. 4, 1856 and moved with her parents to Iowa in 1864. The family have been residents of Chickasaw county since 1866. On May 2, 1878, she was married to Thos. F. Nulty and they started out together on the farm on which she died. The fruit of their union is five sons and three daughters, all of whom survive their mother, the youngest child being scarcely three years of age.

Mrs. Nulty has been in poor health for the past two or three years, but did not realize that that dread foe, consumption, had fastened upon her. Through weakness brought on by other ailments, she was unable to successfully combat the disease and patiently awaited her summons, surrounded by family and relatives.

She was of a loving, tender disposition, honest, industrious, and forgiving. Her great aim was to live a good christian life, and to bring up her children the same way. As a neighbor she was kind and obliging, and as a friend all that could be desired. In her death her children lose a most devoted mother, and her husband at has always been a devout member of the Catholic church, and died fortified by its last rites. Her mortal remains were followed to their last resting place in Mt. Carmel Cemetery by a procession over a mile in length. Rev. Father Garrahan officiated at the funeral and read a Requiem High Mass, after which he spoke very feelingly of the deceased, and offered words of comfort to the sorrowing relatives and friends. She leaves to mourn her early death a husband, eight children, a brother, John Tooley, of New Hampton and a sister, Mrs. Mullin of Britt, Ia. A large number from a distance were present at the funeral. The M. W. A. of Lawler presented a very beautiful floral cross and wreath. To the sorrowing relatives we offer the sympathy of an entire community.
