The following clipped from the Sioux City Journal of Jauuary 18, will be of interest to many people in Chickasaw county.
Kerby — In Sioux City, Ia, Saturday, January 12, 1901, Mrs. Ellen Rockford Kerby, wife of Daniel H. Kerby, aged 65 years and 6 days, of stomach and heart trouble, aggravated by an attack of the grip.
The funeral will be held at St. Mary's Catholic church Tuesday, but the arrangements have not yet been completed.
The death of Mrs. Kerby was sudden and unlooked for. She took sick Wednesday evening at the residence, 1407 Nebraska street, but her illness was not considered serious, and was attributed to the prevailing epidemic of the grip. Friday evening her condition became more serious, but she grew better during the night, and at nine o'clock yesterday morning her physician found her resting easy and apparently improving. There was nothing alarming in her condition up to within a short time before her death which came as a great shook to her large family and numerous friends. Those of her children who live in Sioux City were at her bedside when she passed away, and Rev J. L. Kerby of Spencer, a son, was also present.
