Truvee Collins, Civil War Veteran, Is Dead
Truvee Collins, a veteran of the Civil war and a former resident of Nashua, died at a local hospital at 12:20 p.m. Saturday after a lingering illness. He had made his home with his nephew R.S. Crowell, 1004 First avenue west, for the last year and a half, coming here from Nashua where he had resided for thirty years.
Mr. Collins was born May 15, 1846 in New York and during the war served with Co. H, 153rd Illinois Infantry. His wife preceded him in death a year and a half ago and his sister, Mrs. Esther Crowell died Dec. 28, 1929, in this city. Besides his nephew he is survived by several stepchildren in Nashua. Mr. Collins was a member of the T.Z. Cook post, G.A.R.
Funeral services will be held in the Beatty chapel at 2:30 p.m. Monday. The body will be taken Tuesday to Nashua for burial.
