Obituary for Alice Einck
Alice Einck, age 91, passed away at Seasons Hospice in Rochester, Minnesota on Saturday, December 31, 2016.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Pius X Catholic Church, in Rochester, MN.

Interment will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday June 21, 2017 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Lawler, Iowa.

Alice was born on January 25, 1925, the daughter of Ben and Rosa (Rausch) Bodensteiner, in St. Lucas, Iowa. Alice attended St. Luke's Parochial School in St. Lucas. On January 25, 1944, she was united in marriage to Louis Einck of Festina, Iowa. To this union 12 children were born. After living briefly near Ossian and New Hampton, they bought a farm one mile south of Lawler, where they lived for 38 years and raised their children.

Alice was actively involved with Church and volunteer work. She attended Nurses Training at NICC in Calmar for one year and also worked at Roger's Famous Foods and Hub Clothiers in New Hampton. After Louis passed away in 1984 and Allyn in 1985, Alice sold the farm and moved to Rochester. Alice loved to communicate with her children via email, was a voracious reader who kept book reports of everything she read, and was a life long learner. She was very civic and community minded, with Family, Faith and Friends being very important in her life. Alice traveled extensively following her move to Rochester. She was very involved in her Church, St. Pius X, was a 68 year member of the Catholic Daughters of America, as well as being active in the Widowed Persons Group in Rochester, and an election judge for 18 years. She was a Pink Lady at Methodist Hospital for 20 years, and volunteered at numerous other community sites. She was an active bridge player into her 90s. In January, 2016, Alice entered into Hospice Care and was able to stay in her own home until October of 2016 when she moved to the Seasons Hospice facility southwest of Rochester.

Alice is survived by her children: Karen Schmitt, New Hampton, IA; Jim Einck, Ferndale, WA; Gary (Kathleen) Einck, Rochester, MN; Kathy (Ted) Mokricky, Santa Rosa, CA; Dennis (Marcia) Einck, Rochester, MN; Randy (Sherry) Einck, Orangeville, CA; Mark Einck, Roseville, CA; Roger Einck, Rochester, MN; Gordon Einck, Garden Valley, CA; Mary (Mark) Weston, Mishicot, WI; Pam (Eric) Swanson, Rochester, MN; 23 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; brother Linus Bodensteiner, sisters Corina Deeny, Evelyn (Lawrence) Elsbernd, and Marion Heying; brother-in- law Ken Kuennen, sister-in- law Rosaria Einck and daughter-in- law Mary Lee (Don) Moothart of Texas; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Louis, son Allyn, her brothers Arnold and Dennis Bodensteiner, and sisters Elizabeth (Ben) Schaufenbuel and Lorraine (Ken) Kuennen.
