JERICO - Mathias (Matt Dillon) Lund, 83, Lansing, formerly of Jerico, died Tuesday, Jan. 11 at his home of natural causes.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 14 at Immanuel Lutheran Church (Crane Creek), rural Lawler, with Rev. Peter D. Peterson officiating. Edith Kolthoff will be organist and will accompany those in attendance singing "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art" .

Burial will be in the Crane Creek Cemetery with Donald Knutson, Bruce Qualley, Duke Knutson, Jack Sabelka, Kenny Olson, Dennis Knutson, Walt Smith, Ted Johnson and Russell Howe Jr. serving as casket bearers.

Visitation was from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13 at Conway Funeral Home in New Hampton ana an hour prior to services at the church.

Mathias Alexander Lund was born March 14, 1916 in Paint Creek Township in Allamakee County, the son of Jens and Ida (Johnson) Lund.

He attended rural school near Waterville and in Austin, MN. After his schooling he farmed and worked various jobs. Matt married Jessie I. Geno and the couple resided and farmed in Allamakee County. They were later divorced. He began working in road construction and was employed by Highway Surfacers and later Carlson Construction. He married Jessie P. Tomlinson on April 8, 1969 in Preston, MN. After their marriage, the couple resided in the New Hampton and Jerico area. After his wife's death in 1989, Matt remained in the Jerico area until moving to Lansing in November 1997.

Surviving are one daughter, Shirley Manning, Lansing; two sisters, Alphia (Gilman) Kolsrud, Waukon and Inga Olson, Austin, MN; nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; first wife, Jessie I. on March 9, 1992; second wife, Jessie P. on June 23, 1989; one son-in-law, Jerry Manning on Dec. 24, 1999.
