ALTA VISTA - Amelia M. (Millie) Lentz, 84, died Friday, Feb. 18 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN after a short illness.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 22 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Alta Vista with Rev. Roger R. Rethamel presiding. Sara Recker was organist and accompanied the adult choir. Millie's daughters presented the gifts as her granddaughters placed the pall.

Interment was in Mount Calvary Cemeteiy in Alta Vista with grandsons Vince and Jim Beam, Todd Lentz and Mark, Steve and Jesse Zobeck served as casket bearers. Honorary bearers were great-granddaughters, Jill Ann Armstrong, Jessica Donahe, Gina Gillespie, Kylie Beam, Tina and Anna Beam, Anna Zobeck, Tansy Schroeder and Jamie Frizzell.

Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 21 at Conway uneral Home in Elma where there was a 4:30 p.m. Rosary and a 7 p.m. Scripture Service.

Amelia Mary Chihak was born Sept. 27,1915 in Jacksonville Township, rural New Hampton, the daughter of James and Caroline (Praska) Chihak. After graduation from New Hampton High School, she married Vincent J. Lentz on Sept. 30,1936 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Hampton. Following their marriage, they farmed near Alta Vista for a number of years before moving into the community. Millie was a homemaker before becoming a teacher in the country school. After the death of her husband in 1972, she worked as a bookkeeper for Mahoney Oil Co. until her retirement.

Survivors include her three daughters, Beverly (Phil) Beam, Fort Dodge, Janet (Ron) Schroeder, Long Beach, CA and Carol (David) Zobeck, Elma; 18 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Vincent, in 1972; one son, Louis J. Lentz; two grandsons, Tony Lentz and James Keane; and three brothers, Alphonse, Virgil and Emil Chihak.
