OBITUARY OF ILLA
MAE RUST JOHNSTON

Illa M. JOHNSTON, age 88, Plainfield, Ia., died at the home of a son, Wednesday morning, June 19, 1963. She spent her entire life in the Plainfield area.

She is survived by four sons, Burness of Parkersburg, Kenneth of Denver, Clair and Richard of Plainfield; three daughters, Mrs. T. F. HANNAN (Gladys), Mrs. Marie CHESTER, Plainfield, Mrs. Blanche OBERHEU, Waverly; one brother, Cyril RUST, of Waterloo; 15 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 1963, from the Methodist church in Plainfield, and burial was in the Horton cemetery. The Rev. Delbert Dawes, present pastor, and the Rev. Robert Davies, retired, officiated at the funeral.

Calvin Kelly was soloist and Janice Fritcher was organist.

Flowers were in charge of Mrs. Wilbur Fisher and Mrs. Leo Harris.

Casket bearers were Leland, Leonard and Melvin Johnston, Lemar Chester, and Loren Hannan, all of whom are grandsons.

Mrs. JOHNSTON, daughter of Alonzo and Elizabeth Pierce RUST, was born June 30, 1874. She was married to George C. JOHNSTON March 20, 1895. Most of their married life was spent on their farm in Polk Township of Bremer County.

She was a member of the Plainfield Methodist church.
