Obituary for Keith Jay Panos

Keith “Moe” Panos age 49 of Little Turkey, Iowa, died Saturday January 23, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton.

A Memorial Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday January 28, 2016 at Assumption Catholic Church, Little Turkey with Rev. Nick March celebrating the service. Interment will be held at a later date.

Friends may greet the family from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at Assumption Catholic Church - Little Turkey. Visitation continues an hour prior to Mass on Thursday. Keith “Moe” Panos was born May 8, 1966, in New Hampton, IA, the son of Alden and Marie (Snyder) Panos. He received his formal education from Turkey Valley Schools, graduating with the class of 1984. After graduation he entered the U.S. Army and remained in the Army Reserves for 15 years.

On September 24, 1988, Keith was married to Julie Geerts. To this union three children were born. The couple later divorced.

Keith started driving truck for Schneider International and then went on to work for Featherlite. In 1996 he began working at Croell Redi-Mix in Lawler and New Hampton. He had been working there ever since.

Keith loved to go to auctions. He enjoyed buying different collectable items such as old toys or carnival glass. He had a passion for trucks and loved going to truck shows. Keith also loved his dogs, they were a part of his family. Keith will always be remembered for giving people a hard time and always being there for people. He will also be remembered as one of the hardest workers you could ever meet.

He is survived by his parents, Alden and Marie Panos of Little Turkey, Iowa; two sons, Devin Panos of Little Turkey, Iowa, and Derek Panos of New Hampton, Iowa; one daughter, Chyna (Michael Alderson) Panos of Sumner, Iowa; two step-grandchildren, Madison and Travis; three brothers, Steve (Bev) Panos of Spillville, Iowa, Tony (Charlene) Panos of Holly Hill, Florida and Glenn Panos of Daytona Beach, Florida; one sister, Margaret (Jay) Uhlenhake of Lawler, Iowa; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Adolph and Margaret Panos, Joseph and Mary Snyder; his two beloved dogs, Trey and Dozer.
