Obituary for Robert L. Kingsbury

Robert L. Kingsbury age 68 of Fredericksburg, Iowa, died Saturday, February 6, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center New Hampton.



Friends may greet the family 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 11, 2016, at Hugeback - Johnson Funeral Home in Fredericksburg.

Robert Lee Kingsbury was born June 20, 1947, in Baltimore, Maryland, the son of Robert H. and Betty J. (Semler) Kingsbury. Bobby attended school at Shady Side School in Baltimore. Upon graduation, Bobby enlisted in the United States Navy where he served from 1964 - 1967, when he was honorably discharged. He worked in the construction field for several years. At 28, Bobby had a major stroke that left him with extensive amounts of damage. He had to relearn how to walk, talk, and perform all motor skills.

While Bobby was rehabbing from his stroke, his sister, Patsy, in Fredericksburg, Iowa, thought Melody Beyer from Fredericksburg would be a good match for Bobby. Bobby and Melody communicated with audiotapes and letters through the mail. After a year Bobby hopped on a bus in Baltimore to travel to Iowa to met his future bride. A couple of months later the couple were married on June, 27, 1981, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. After marriage, the couple moved to Waldorf, Maryland, where they lived for three 1/2 years, moving back to Fredericksburg in 1984.

Bobby was a very handy person and was always doing some type of project for his family. If there was something that needed to be done, no matter how big or small, Bobby was the man for the job.

Bobby enjoyed gardening, yard work and painting. He enjoyed tinkering with just about anything. He loved his church and was a very faithful person.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 34 years, Melody; mother, Betty Semler of Fredericksburg, IA; two brothers, Tom Kingsbury of Beaver Creek, OH and Ron Kingsbury of Haven Hill, FL; sister, Patsy (Duane) Eichenberger of Fredericksburg, IA; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Sr.; sister-in-law, Della Kingsbury.
