Obituary for Stuart A. Demro
Stuart A. Demro age 88, lifelong resident of Nashua, Iowa, died Monday, April 11, 2016, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.
Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2016, at St. John Lutheran Church, Nashua, with Rev. Bill Nielsen presiding. Interment with military honors will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Nashua.
Friends may greet the family 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2016, at the Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home - Olson Chapel in Nashua. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Online condolences for Stuart's family may be left at hugebackfuneralhome.com

Stuart Allen Demro was born May 5, 1927, in Nashua, Iowa, the son of Paul and Ruth (Usher) Demro. He received his education in Nashua and was a 1945 graduate of the Nashua High School. He was inducted into the United States Army on October 10, 1950 and was honorably discharged on October 1, 1952. He received the Korean Service Medal and United Nations Service Medal. Stuart also attended the University of Iowa for two years.
On December 24, 1952, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, he married Arlys “Mickey” Lundgren. To this union three daughters were born; Mary, Paula and Carol. The couple made Nashua their home where Stuart was self-employed for over 30 years as a plasterer and dry-waller. He took great pride in his occupation and worked on many large construction projects around northeast Iowa.
Stuart was active in the Nashua Fire Department, the Boat Club, Nashua VFW Post #6792, Curling, the Masonic Temple and the Nashua Town and Country Club. He also enjoyed the Iowa Hawkeyes, hunting and fishing with his family and friends.
Stuart is survived by his three daughters; Mary (Steve) Nicholson of Osage, Iowa, Paula (Steve) Woodin of Des Moines and Carol (Daryl) Powell of Incline Village, Nevada; eight grandchildren, Mike (Katie) Nicholson, Matt (Mallory) Nicholson, Scott Woodin, Greg Woodin, Janelle Woodin, Clint Powell, Mitch Powell and Cam Powell; three great-grandchildren, Kellen Nicholson, Kollins Nicholson and Landry Nicholson; one brother, William (Darlene) Demro of Osage; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife on December 10, 2000; by two brothers, Ronald Demro and Paul Demro Jr. in infancy; and by two sisters, Pauline Shultz and Marian Maulsby.
