Obituary for Maurice W. Conry
Maurice "Maurie" W. Conry age 89, of New Hampton, Iowa, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2016 at his residence with family at his side.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Holy Family Parish in New Hampton, Iowa, with Father Mark Osterhaus and Msgr. Walter Brunken concelebrating with the mass. Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Greene, Iowa.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday March 30, 2016 at Holy Family Parish in New Hampton. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the funeral mass on Thursday. Maurice William Conry was born on August 17, 1926 in Alta Vista, Iowa, to Maurice and Louise (Ringdal) Conry. He attended New Hampton High School prior to joining the US Navy, where he fought in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He returned home and began working for Case IH in New Hampton. On August 21, 1952, Maurie was united in marriage to Louise Boehmer at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Alta Vista. To this union six children were born, John, Jane, Jim, Jeff, Joe and Jason. The couple made their home in New Hampton. Maurie entered the sales world for Hansen’s Furniture. From there he went into farm equipment sales. He managed a 21 county territory. He completed his career with the Iowa State Lottery, retiring in 1992. Upon Maurie’s retirement, he and Louise spent their time traveling and wintering in Alamo, Texas. He enjoyed water sports, golfing. He especially loved spending time with his family.
Maurie is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Louise Conry of New Hampton, Iowa; his children, John (Patsi) Conry of Fairfield Bay, AR, Jane (Tom) Shekleton of New Hampton, Jeff Conry of Belews Creek, NC, and Joe Conry of Owatonna, Minnesota; his 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sons, Jim and Jason; and his siblings, Mabel, Madria, Raymond and Dale.
