Eddie Bowers, son of John Bowers, was accidentally shot and killed near New Hampton last Saturday his funeral occurring at that place on Tuesday. He with several others had been hunting and fishing and returning toward evening with the others he left them to find a knife which he had lost, the other boys going on home.

The theory is that he saw some object that he desired to shoot and with his gun cocked he attempted to crawl under a limb when he stumbled falling with his forehead upon the muzzle of his gun which was discharged with the result above mentioned. The deceased was in his 19 year. The friends and relatives of the family from Cresco attended the funeral which was held at New Hampton.
