NORTH WASHINGTON - Rita Marie Heying, 86, of North Washington, died Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at New Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born May 17, 1922, near Ossian, daughter of Herman and Agnes Hemeseth Bohr. She married Linus Heying on May 9, 1944, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Ossian. He died Sept. 1, 1985.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, North Washington.

Survived by a son, Daniel (Sharon) of Alta Vista; five daughters, Marlys (Raymond) Kobliska of Elma, Louise Schwickerath of New Hampton, Irene (Cecil) Bullis and Rose (Douglas) Ganfield, both of Waterloo, and Mary (David) Capper of Washington, Iowa; 22 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 21 stepgreat-grandchildren; a sister, Sister Marie Bohr O.S.F. of Dubuque; and a sister-in-law, Catherine Bohr of Ossian.

Preceded in death by a son-in-law, John Schwickerath; eight brothers, Wiliam Bohr, Anthony Bohr, John Bohr, Clement Bohr, the Rev. Jerome Bohr, Hugo Bohr in infancy, the Rev. Richard Bohr and Hugo Bohr; and four sisters, Rose Heying, Agnes Heying, Pauline Holthaus and Hilda Holthaus.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, both in North Washington. Public visitation from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home, New Hampton, where there will be a 3 p.m. rosary and a 6:30 p.m. Scripture service. Visitation also for an hour before services Monday at the church.
