Obituary for Marion K. Hannemann--
Marion K. Hannemann age 93 of Nashua died Saturday,February 8, 2014, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m.Saturday, February 15, 2014, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Nashua with Msgr. John Hemann celebrating the Mass. The pall will be placed on the casket by her two surviving children.
Interment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery with Troy Hannemann, Matt Hannemann, Wayde Henry, Tom Henry, Ronald Gibson, Michael J. Hannemann and Mike Hannemann serving as pallbearers.
Friends may greet the family 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.Friday, February 14, 2014, at the Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home-Olson Chapel in Nashua. Visitation continues from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Marion Katherine Hannemann was born June 7, 1920, in Nashua, IA, the daughter of John Joseph and Elizabeth Marie (Felton) Haag. She received her education in Nashua, graduating from the Nashua High School in 1938. On June 7, 1938, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Nashua, Marion was united in marriage to Paul A. “Bud” Hannemann. To this union six children were born. The couple farmed west of Nashua for many years and moved into Nashua in1986.
Marion and Bud spent many weekends fishing at the Mississippi and camping at the Red Barn in Lansing. They often took neighbors and card-club friends for long weekends of fishing. Marion enjoyed telling her stories about their adventures. She will be remembered for being a wonderful homemaker who cared for her growing family. She always had a large garden to meet her families needs and enjoyed being involved in her card-club and making rugs with her antique loom.
Marion had also worked for several years in the Nashua High School cafeteria. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and St. Michael’s Guild.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary (Johnny) Gibson of Wheatland, Calif.; one son, Tod (Christy Gregory) Hannemann of Denver, Colorado; fourteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul on August 16, 2001; two daughters, Deanna M. Green in 1995, Judith A. Hannemann in 2000; two sons, Paul A. Hannemann Jr. in 1966, Tommy G.Hannemann in 1999; five sisters, Mary Jane Haag, Margaret Ransom, Susie Monroe, Christine Hvitved and Garland Jensen.
